"In the Heights - Eine Video-Performance Workshop Ausstellung -
Jay Brown, Direktor Lijiang Studio

„In the Heights – A Video Performance Workshop Exhibition -
Alfred Banze returned to Lijiang Studio, after his successful Banyan Project workshop in Kunming in 2005, with a project called In The Heights. Using visual material collected from all over the world, his own drawings, poetry, and music, Alfred conducted workshops combining his work with the students work into performances telling of leaving densely populated areas for “The heights, where one can breathe again.” His workshops enabled participants in his workshops to find their own voices, making visual and musical narratives, which Alfred mixed in with an anthropological interpretation of the heights of Lashihai and his own childhood memories.“
